A Day-Long extravaganza for Differently-Abled-Kids

Youth for Seva (YFS) takes pride in organizing “CHIGURU”, a Cultural Fest, for the past 5 years to bring out the hidden talents of underprivileged and non-formal school children. Taking our passion forward, this year, YFS is initiating a new annual event “SPHOORTI-2015” in partnership with SAKSHAMA(A National level organization working towards the all-round development of people with disabilities) for differently abled children.

SPHOORTI-2015 will not only be a cultural and arts platform for differently abled children to showcase their hidden talents but also nurturing them to pursue it further. It is being held across 4 categories viz.
· Visually Challenged Students
· Intellectually Challenged Students
· Physically Challenged Students
· Speech and Hearing Impaired Students.

There are about 18 events where these differently abled children will exhibit their talents.

Interested in volunteering their time for patients in psychiatric rehabilitation services are invited to register and attend a volunteer induction program. Prospective volunteers will be sensitized regarding mental illness, role of rehabilitation, facilities available at Psychiatric rehabilitation services and opportunities to make a difference.

Conserve and Preserve Bannerughatta
Description
RK Mission have started a program “Conserve and Preserve Bannerghatta”, this movement is meant to protect the forest through various volunteer engagement programs.
We need volunteers to be connected to the schools around Bannerghatta National Park; the same volunteers will also get an opportunity to learn about nature through guided nature learning programs.

In our endeavour to enhance the volunteer experience and also work towards supporting the volunteers in the field of teaching we are organising following trainings from the domain experts.

It is mandatory to undergo this training, before commencing any teaching activity in schools.

[Volunteersblr4] Yoga training on the occasion of World Yoga Day – June 21st 2015

June 21st, has been declared as World Yoga day by the United Nations General Assembly last year. Since 21st June is the longest day of the year in northern hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world it was chosen for world yoga day.

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.

In our endeavour to enhance the volunteer experience and spreading the message of immense benefits of YOGA a workshop to train the volunteers in this regard is organized by RASHTROTTHANA PARISHAT, an expert in this domain (as per the below plan). Let’s be a part of First International Yoga Day. Be a proud Indian.

We are inviting a select group of volunteers who are interested to learn basics of Yoga and teach children in Govt schools in the next 2 weeks as a run up to the event on Jun 21st. We request you to attend this program at a convenient location. Looking forward to meet you in the program…

[Volunteersblr4] School Kit Drive 2015 – Call for Volunteers!

Dear Volunteers,

YFS is looking for volunteers to coordinate/ support the Fund Raising efforts for the School Kit Drive 2015 !!!

More than 30,000 children benefitted from the School Kit Drive conducted by YFS last year!
This was a result of the dedication of YFS Volunteers who contributed their efforts and coordinated the campaigns for these programs.

We are currently in the fund raising stage of the project and are looking for volunteers to help coordinate this effort.
You could help us by coordinating within your place of work or connecting us to the right people in your organisation etc. We will provide you with the information, materials and if required, training, to help you with the Fund Raising.

Please note that we will need many volunteers for the Assembling and Distribution stages of the project. As distribution only begins in June, we will make a separate call for Volunteers in early June.
