Free Fun filled Disability Sensitization Workshop

Hello People,

Annie Sullivan was an American teacher, best known for being the instructor and lifelong companion of Helen Keller, who was deaf, mute, and blind. At GiftAbled we thought, what best than celebrating her Birthday by spreading awareness through our one of its kind Disability Sensitization Workshop for Corporate Leaders, on April 14th, from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm.

It is my honor and pleasure to invite you to one of it’s kind Disability Sensitization Workshop for Corporate Leaders, on April 14th, from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm.

Objective and why you should attend?

GiftAbled has developed a training program which focusses on education of skills and knowledge required to interact and deal confidently, with People with disabilities. The objective is to Alter mindsets, address fears, confusion, break stereotypes and bust myths about persons with disabilities.

A quick overview of the program:

– Simulates all the major disabilities, including, People who are Visually Impaired, deaf/hearing impaired, wheelchair users, people with intellectual disabilities and more

– Takes a look at many of the myths which are associated with disabilities

– Some do’s and don’ts when dealing with people with disabilities

– Touches on the language of disability, including Intro to Braille and Sign Language, experiencing the disability and much more.

-Overview of latest Disability law (proposed)

Delegates leave the training knowing that their newly acquired knowledge will enable them to interact and associate with people with disabilities with confidence.

Job Duties:
• Develop, build, and manage a client base of corporate accounts
• Oversee the sales process at each stage from quote to purchasing to fulfillment and follow up

The Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore a leading NGO, providing training and placement services to the persons with disability is organizing Job Fair exclusively for Persons with Disabilities. On 25th July 2015 (Saturday)

Profile of the candidates: – SSLC and below SSLC/ PUC/Graduates/ITI/Diploma/BE and MCA and includes many Hearing Impaired and Orthopedically Challenged, On Wheel Chair.

We are expecting 200 PWDs to take part in the said event. So I am sure you can imagine need of volunteers to support the event:) We need around 50 volunteers. So if you have read this email and have no other important commitments, plssss be there at below address at 9 am and dedicate your Saturday for the cause:)

We are here with a workshop for Volunteers willing to work closely with Visually and Hearing Impaired.

GiftAbled Foundation works closely with Disabled especially Visually Impaired and Hearing Impaired in Bangalore. We have started Deaf Club and Vision club (for Visually impaired), a platform to learn from each other. GiftAbled Foundation is a non-profit initiative which strives to create an ecosystem of like-minded individuals to come together to build a sensitized and disabled friendly society.

As part of our Sensitization, Awareness and Inclusiveness workshops we have initiated “Intro to Braille and Sign Language workshop” which covers Basic understanding and learning A to Z in Braille and Sign Language along with awareness and insight to the challenges of people with disabilities! Through this workshop our aim is to communicate Appropriate Information on disability issues and Appropriate Visibility of persons with disabilities, to alter perspectives of the non-disabled population on the strengths, problems and discrimination faced by persons with disability and help emphasize on abilities rather than disabilities.

Fun and Learning and awareness about Visual Impairment and Hearing Challenges!

Your Investment : Rs 300 and above (Taken as Donation/Optional) + Lot of Passion and Promise to volunteer for the Cause (compulsory)!!!!

All participants “Please note”: The Fees of Rs 300 and above as paid by you would go as Donations exempt from Tax and will go towards Social Development Activities by GiftAbled Foundation…. The amount donated will be utilised basically for 1.) Trainings related to Disability awareness 2.) We will be needing atleast 50 volunteers to assist 50 Visually Impaired starting this Sunday for a workshop dedicated to benefit the Visually Impaired people conducted by ‘GiftAbled Foundation’. We already have 30 sign ups. So look forward for 10-20 more volunteers

Event: ‘Workshop for Signing Initials for Visually Impaired’ by ‘GiftAbled Foundation’

Event Day: June 7th, 2015 – Sunday

Duration: 3 hours (9.45 am to 3 pm)

Location: HSR Layout, South Bangalore

Volunteer Req; Minimum 50 Volunteers

No of Beneficiaries: 50 Visually Impaired workshop participants

Objectives of Workshop

1. To teach the Visually Impaired how to write their own name in English Alphabets and how to put signature on documents. Each volunteer will help one Visually Impaired Participant

2. Introduction to Braille writing and reading

3. Introduction to Tactile Drawing Methodologies

4. Introduction to Sign Language alphabets

Note: Volunteers need not possess any of these skills except how to put signature :). The remaining will be taught in a brief way before the beneficiary workshop in first one hour.

This is an awesome and self satisfying way of volunteering so hopefully many of you if not all of you turn out to help us

Warm Welcome to special languages workshop:)

This workshop is for Basic understanding and learning A to Z in Braille and Sign Language:) Fun and Learning and awareness about Visual Impairment and Hearing Challenges!

Agenda of the day: Registration followed by National Anthem, Introduction and energiser followed by Interactive session and understanding Visual Impairement challenges, Intro to Braille and Some hands on… Then Intro to Sign language and Sign language practice and finally Reflections and way forward
