Hello all,

As all of you know, the Bangalore Android Group and HasGeek are organising Droidcon in India on the 18th and 19th of November (www.droidcon.in) and the event needs an app. Who better to write this app other than ourselves :D. The final app will be released on the Android market under the Bangalore Android Group account and the contributing members will be recognised.

A little info about the app, the app code base has been forked from the official Droidcon app that has been used at the recent London Droidcon and all the various Droidcons all around the world. So a large portion off the app is already built, but we are going to make it better, much better, because we are AWESOME!

The app currently reads the events off a google doc, but we are going to make this more stable by moving to a traditional rest service, we hope to add NFC support for contact exchange, and implement C2DM notifications to notify attendees during the event.

What we need are Android Developers and maybe some graphic designers who can help with the branding and so on of the app.

This opportunity is amazing to demonstrate how well we work as a group and show the other Droidcons what a conference app should be built like 😉

The git repo can be found here: https://github.com/bangalore-android-group/conference-mobile-app

This is the existing Droidcon London 2011 app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.novoda.droidcon2011&feature=search_result (just to give you an idea for what we’ve got)

I’m quite excited about this as it will be our first community effort app and am looking forward to hearing from you guys.

aaaannnndddd… one more thing, once done we will push the changes upstream to the main code base as well.
