GDG Bangalore is happy to announce Android Study Jam 2016! If you are a working professional and want to start off with Android app development, this is your chance!

Android Study Jam is a study group on Android focused on learning to develop Android apps. All participants in the study group will have to go through video lessons from an online course curated by Google on Udacity. The Android Study Jam will be conducted across six weeks by GDG Bangalore at the offices of Flipkart.
If you are a working professional who is passionate in beginning your journey with Android app development, this is your chance.

General guidelines for participants:
1) Must be a working professional
2) Must have basic experience with Object Oriented Programming
3) Must attend all events for certification
4) Must complete lessons and assignments on time

What you get from the Study Jam:
1) A network of budding mobile developers as well as experts to guide you through your app development journey
2) A kick-start to your mobile app development career
3) At least a fully working app by the end of the Study Jam
4) Google-offered Study Jams completion certificate
5) Discount on the Android Nanodegree on Udacity upon course completion
6) Opportunity to join Google Launchpad with completed app, pending app quality

Here are the rough timelines of the Android Study Jam:

23 April 2016: Week 1 – Introduction
30 April 2016: Week 2 – Review on Lesson 1
7 May 2016: Week 3 – Review on Lesson 2
14 May 2016: Week 4 – Review on Lesson 3
21 May 2016: Week 5 – Work on Project
28 May 2016: Week 6 – Work on Project

Team formation :
Teams can be no larger than four (4) people; any person can only be a member of one (1) team and, if participating as a member of a team, cannot participate as an individual. All teams will be selected shortlisted, based on the credentials filled in by the participants. Only the shortlisted candidates will be invited for the hackathon.

Information about the tracks :
There are 3 categories that a team can broadly choose from – Mobile, Web & Internet of Things (IoT).
Those who have chosen Internet of Things (IoT) as a category for the hackathon, must bring all the necessary components to participate during the hackathon. NO components will be provided from the GDG Bangalore Team.

The final winners of the hackathon will be decided based on the jury’s decision and organizers evaluation.

A majority of your work must be developed on premise on the day of the hackathon.
All necessary software required for the completion of the hack must be downloaded before hand.
Member(s) of the team must be present during the registration to be entitled for the prize.
All hacks must be demo-able. No power point presentations will be accepted.

Food and Beverages will be provided on the day of the event.
Smoking and Alcohol is strictly prohibited on campus.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THE COMPETITION. IWD WTM Hack 2016 IS A HACKATHON BY GDG BANGALORE AND IS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE.
